Sun high and burning down on the field, you could see some of the grass already had given way. Most people had found the shade. One of them being the new kid who only just came to the city. He hadn’t bothered introducing himself yet and had sat down at every class, without so much as a hello. Now walking out of the school with his hands in his pockets he made his way over to what he figured would be the one place he would be able to sit alone. His age had been guessed around 21 and the question would be what he was doing here.
It seemed so far he hadn’t even paid attention to the classes he had been in and was to busy just leaning back and staring at the ceiling. Even teachers didn’t really know what to do as some had tried to ask if he wanted to share with the class what was so interesting. He would just shake his head and keep leaning back. Reaching a wall which cast some shade over the ground he leaned against it and slid down until he sat.
So far in his mind nothing had happened and so he had been told wrong. He was positive someone would soon have a very painful evening. He had after all been told people here where mutants and that some would be wiling to help out and even grant them a place to live. It was both this which caught his interest. Leaning his lower arms on his pulled up knees he just gazed at the floor waiting for the break to be over so he could try and get out of here.

Jean Grey adjusted the backpack she had slung over her shoulder grimacing slightly as she nearly lost the hold on the books she carried in her arms. She had dressed casually today in a pair of tan Capri pants and a black shirt that slipped slightly off one shoulder giving her an alluring look that she didn't even seem to realize. As she started for the main building of the school passing by Logan gravity decided to play a part and her books slipped out of her arms to bounce and skid over the ground. With a small sigh Jean pushed her long crimson locks out of her face and knelt down to pick up the books and loose papers that had gone all over the place.
"Why me....." She muttered as she collected her books and piled them straight before picking them up once more, she couldn't fit anymore in her backpack as it was full of notebooks and even more books.
The girl was in advanced classes and had more homework then the regular classes that were taught, she was a straight A student and part of the track, soccer, and basketball team. Her hand came up to rake her hair back from her face once more and she glanced up to where her trigonometry homework had landed, close to where Logan sat. She rose gracefully to her feet with her load of books and moved to retrieve the paper having to turn it in today.

The very moment she came into view brown eyes followed the girl. up to now he hadn't shown interest in anything. His eyes trailed over her figure and soon enough they settled on her face. He tilted his head a bit to the side at the pile of books she was carrying along. It seemed she was a bit in over her head to him. But then she had to make up her own mind about that.
Soon enough the books fell and she had to start collecting them again. As some of the paper started to make their way over to him on ther wind. He watched how she tried and got up. He looked to the side to the papers and back at her while he kept sitting with his back to the wall. For now not moving. His sideburns made him look older than he really was, but he kinda liked it... not that it worked when he shaved them off.
Reaching over he grabbed some of the papers and looked at them. Some sort of homework he guessed and he looked back at the girl. Yep... geek. Perhaps he could bring some change into that... If she would let him.

As Jean drew closer bright green eyes locked with brown for a moment before the young man was looking down at the papers in his hand. Without intending to she sensed his reaction to the homework he held and a small frown formed for a split second before it was wiped from her face. Her eyes flicked over his form before coming back to his face, he certainly didn't look to belong here but she wasn't about to judge. After a moment she cleared her throat tossing her head gently to get the hair out of her eyes since her hands were full of books.
"Thanks for catching it, it would have been a pain if I had to redo it all before class." Her voice had a soft lilting quality to it that could ensnare the senses and hold them captive, the same went for her eyes or so she had been told.
She held her hand out for the papers one long leg coming up to shove the books up into her arms better so they didn't spill once more. She maintained perfect balance as she did this not even seeming to realize she was doing it before her leg came back down to balance her weight evenly.

For a moment Logan watched how Jean was balancing and rose one eyebrow before he handed the papers back to her and sat back against the wall again. He didn't speak yet. His eyes just aimed at hers as he sat there.
"Better get some books of those to yer locker before ya drop them again."
A thick Canadian accent was in his voice. Low and gruff. Almost like an animal growl but more gentle than that. It did explain a lot of his behaviour if one would link one and two together. His eyes trailed back down to the floor as if something very interesting was going on there.

A small smile graced her lips when he spoke about the stack of books that threatened to spill from her arms again and she pulled the papers close stuffing them between the top book and her chest to keep them from blowing away again. That smile was bright even though it wasn't a full one and she gave him a nod.
"I plan on it actually, I can't carry them around all day." She paused for a moment before she spoke again. "I'm Jean."
She didn't expect an answer from him and so she turned to continue to her previous destination. Her long hair shifted as she moved a cascade of fiery red fanning out for a moment before settling against her back again. Given Logan's exceptional sense of smell he would catch the faint scent of shampoo and jasmine, the light perfume she used every morning before school.

The moment she spoke her name Logan tilted his head a bit more to the side and looked after her as she turned around. For a moment he sat there and then shook his head with a sigh wondering why he even bothered. But... ah well. He moved his hand down to the ground and pushed himself up from the spot he had found.
He easily caught up with her and walked beside her. He looked at the stack of books and got half of the pile so she would be able to carry the books better. He looked at her for a moment.
"Name's Logan."
Well he guessed it was... he wasn't very sure about it all. But it seemed so far people who did know him had called him that way... so Logan it was.

She allowed him to take some of the books from her and the two of them headed inside towards her locker where she could drop off what she didn't need for her morning classes. She glanced to him again and bestowed a full smile on him in thanks for helping her. Upon reaching her locker she spun the combination and unlocked it, she pulled it open and shoved the books in her arms inside before taking the ones he carried.
"Thanks." She replied. A commotion a short way down the hall caused her to turn her head and she frowned as she slammed her locker door closed. "Could you give me a minute?"
Without waiting for an answer she wove through the students to a couple of the football players picking on another student. The poor kid was doing his best not to be stuffed in a locker but was failing miserably. Jean made her way over and one hand went to her hip as she glared at the football players. "Why don't you pick on someone your own size, all the blows to the head during practice loosen your brains?"
The football players all turned and surprise crossed their faces that a girl was actually standing up to them. One of the football players, a really big guy who was known for how hard he tackled people on the field, took a step forward and stared at Jean. "Hey cutie? Come over here to ask me on a date?"
Jean's face twisted in disgust and she shook her head. "Hardly, I wouldn't go out with you if my life depended on it. Why not go check out the cheerleaders, they have enough air in their heads to keep you amused for longer then thirty seconds."
"Oh but gorgeous, you are so much prettier than any of the cheerleaders. Maybe you should do a cheer for us to prove how much better you are." The jock turned and laughed with his friends, who just now managed to squeeze the kid into the locker.
Jean tossed her hair over her shoulder and shook her head, emerald green eyes blazing in annoyance. "I don't waste my time with the intellectual joys cheerleaders get out of spelling out words with their arms." She shot back just as the head of the cheerleaders ended up walking by. It seemed the teenager said the wrong thing as the captain of the cheerleaders turned on her and Jean was cornered between the football players and the group of pissed off cheerleaders.

Logan for now just watched in the back, his hearing was well enough to know what going on and as things started to get a bit... aggressive he began to move through the small crowd of students. He simply pushed them aside, instead of waving between them like Jean had done. As Jean made her last remark he stood in the front of the crowd and for now watched how she was closed in.
"How about we settle this... instead of lowering yerself to fight a girl."
Logan stated, attention went to him now as he walked over to the biggest of the group, he stopped not to far from him and looked into the guys eyes. At this he had moved between the jocks and Jean. He waited for a moment before she spoke up again.
"Small game we used to play back where I lived. You get one punch... right in the face. If I remain standing I get to punch you back. I go down, take the girl."
He knew how these Jocks thought they where the strongest and could handle anyone. Logan would give this one a run for his money.

Jean remained silent as Logan came to her rescue, the young woman wasn't weak by any means but she knew when to back down from a fight and this was one of those times. Best to let Logan handle things instead of ending up in the nurses office with a busted nose or worse. If it wasn't the nurse it would be the principal and Jean wasn't in the mood to start a record of that. Her eyebrow rose however when she heard what Logan proposed and she saw the student's who had gathered around murmuring softly as the captain of the football team decided on what to do.
Since the teenager didn't want to lose face in front of his friends or the girls he smirked and curled his ham like hand into a fist. He pulled back and with a smirk his fist connected with Logan's face slamming into the young man's nose.

The moment the fist connected the captain of the football team would feel Logan's skull was a bit harder, even if the tip broke since the bone there wasn't laced. His head turned to the side and he took two steps back while his hand moved up. For a moment there was silence and it seem he would fall over. But then he moved his other hand up as well and a loud crack could be heard as his nose popped back. His head turned up and he looked at the jock with a slightly tilted head.
"My turn."
Logan hand moved with speed which only could have gotten in intense training. As his fist landed on the nose and a hand moved up Logan grabbed it and turned the jock around slamming him against the locker holding him there. His other hand to the back of his head.
"You mess with her again and I won't have ya come off so easy... got it?"
He hissed. His voice now low. A well aimed knee against his lower back send the jock down to his knees and Logan looked down at him. He then turned around and looked at the rest.
"Any other volunteers?"

The jock let out a cry of pain that turned into a grunt as he was slammed up against the locker and then forced down to his knees. Jean stood in silence blinking as she watched Logan move with a fluid grace that most only dreamed of being able to do. When the Jock nodded his head the best he could with him pinned Jean smiled slightly. Having Logan around wasn't a bad thing, carrying books, stopping fights, she couldn't help but wonder what else he would do. When he asked if anyone else wanted to mess with him or Jean the students backed off as one and slowly the group broke up to continue on to their classes. When the area cleared Jean stepped to Logan's side a hand wrapping gently around his arm for a moment before she let go feeling the contact was a little personal.
"Thanks.....you look like you could handle the entire football team." She replied with a grin as the bell rang. "Oh Geez I need to get going, thanks again!" She flashed him a bright smile before she dashed away from him in a blur of fiery hair.

Logan looked after her as the bruise on his nose faded away like snow before sunshine. His eyes trailed to the side and then back. He let go of Jock and knew they would come after him again. Turning around he started to walk away and pulled the locker they had tried to stuff the kid in open.
He was crazy... he would skip this class and made his way back outside to the wall where he had been sitting before. His eyes closing while he leaned his head back. He had been so stupid. Anyone found out he was here, they would come after him again... probably right away.
He shook his head for a moment and opened his eyes to look at the clouds. He sat there out of view for the entire morning when lunch break came he sat in the very same spot. He would have to make contact soon. Things could wait in his mind, and so he would for now.
He watched people walk by and those who saw him walk in a giant circle around him... all except one..

Having rushed off so quickly Jean didn't see that Logan healed within seconds, she slipped into her chemistry class and settled at the desk doing her best not to correct the professor. Her teachers had found out that the young woman was intelligent, so much so that she wasn't afraid to speak her mind and point out flaws if she felt she needed to. She knew to keep it to a minimum however as too much would cause irritation among the teachers and taunting from the other students. It was no secret she was admired for her intelligence and looks and that was why so many people believed her to be stuck up and too good for the school, of course they never said anything directly to her. Those who had thought about doing so had changed their minds after the display this morning.
When the bell rang for lunch Jean avoided the cafeteria and she grabbed her books for the afternoon classes before heading outside. She didn't like being around a ton of people especially all crammed into one room, she had often gotten stray thoughts and feelings off people and she didn't like it. Stepping outside her feet didn't lead her to her usual spot by the fountain but to the wall she had met Logan at, something told her he was there and she wanted to sit with him if he would allow it.

Logan looked up as she came into view and for a moment looked at her. He looked down for a moment and sighed while he moved one leg a bit up.
"Hey Red..."
He stated and waited for now why she was here and what she wanted to do. He could guess in a way but he wasn't sure if it would be so good for her to get involved into all this. Involved with him more likely.
There was to much she did not know about him and stuff she would probably never know either because he didn't.
